How to use Report Builder?

Create focused visual reports for specific stakeholders without sharing the complete response dataset.

A single survey may contain useful information for several teams, but each stakeholder does not always need to see the same responses or charts. After collecting data with Porsline’s online questionnaire builder, Report Builder helps you turn a selected response segment into a focused visual report.

This video shows how to filter your results, create a report link and control what each viewer sees without rebuilding the original survey.

What Report Builder Lets You Control

  • Create multilevel filters to isolate the responses relevant to a particular question.
  • Select which result columns should appear in a filtered view.
  • Save and name filters for repeated reporting needs.
  • Generate a unique visual report link for each saved segment.
  • Customise the report title and description.
  • Add charts and explanatory notes to the shared report.
  • Print the report or save it as a PDF.
  • Export the filtered data as an Excel or CSV file.
  • Disable a report link when access is no longer required.

Advanced Filters and Report Builder serve related but different purposes. Advanced Filters define which responses belong to the segment, while Report Builder turns that selected segment into a stakeholder-facing visual report.

Where Focused Reports Improve Decision-Making

A complete response dataset may be useful to an analyst, but it can be unnecessarily broad for a regional manager, client or department lead. Report Builder is useful when the same survey needs to support several decisions without distributing every response to every stakeholder.

Give Each Regional Manager a Relevant Customer Report

A retail organisation may collect customer feedback across several branches in one survey. Within customer experience surveys, the analyst can create one filter for each branch and generate a report that shows only the feedback relevant to that regional manager.

The central customer care team can still review the full dataset, while each manager receives a focused report for their location. If access is temporary, the report link can be disabled after the review period.

Share Product Feedback with the Right Decision-Makers

A product research study may collect feedback about several products, customer groups and purchase channels. Using market research surveys, the research team can isolate responses about one product or audience segment and create a report for the product manager or executive team.

The shared report can include a clear title, selected charts and short notes explaining the context. This gives stakeholders a more focused view without requiring them to search through unrelated responses.

After watching, open a survey that already contains test responses and define one reporting question, such as “What did dissatisfied customers say about the new product?” Create the required filter, review the selected responses and generate a report link with a clear title and description.
